NZ Funds Investment Research – Market Update 3 – Record of our actions_Mar2020

COVID-19 update – 23 March 2020

We are in unprecedented times. Imposed restrictions are now causing widespread disruption to everyday living across the globe.   We have no way of knowing how long we might need to continue to operate this way.
There might be even stricter conditions to come. We at ISN are very conscious of the fact that you will be experiencing all sorts of emotions, just as we are.
I continue to make phone contact with clients as time permits. If you want a chat please get in touch anytime.

Lee and I participated in another Conference Call with NZ Funds this morning. Needless to say, these calls have become more frequent than the usual weekly calls.
You are urged to read the contents of the article in the link below. It is a record of the actions NZ Funds has taken to date in anticipation of, as well as in response to, the impact on global investment markets.

Everyone’s portfolio will have been affected.
As of last Thursday, the global markets were down 26.3%. Thanks to the NZ Funds downside mitigation strategy our clients have fared much better than the global share markets.
Our clients with aggressive portfolios have had the damage limited to 14% year to date; a more balanced portfolio is down about 11.5%, and a conservative portfolio even less.

We do remain cognisant of the potential for further downside risk, however, we remain positioned to mitigate that downside. Importantly also, we need to make the most of the inevitable upside. Accordingly, we are focusing on outperforming when the share market rebounds. We see and are positioned for, a potential 40% upside for our clients.

Life will return to whatever normal turns out to be after this because it will all end. Markets will recover. Portfolios will survive. Life will go on. We will all be fine.
In the meantime please heed the advice of health professionals. Stay home to reduce unnecessary exposure unless you desperately need to go out. Ask for assistance because it will be available.
Get in touch please if you want to chat.

Kindest wishes and Blessings
